Radio 5 Live
Toby Perkins was a guest on Radio Five Live’s Up All Night programme on Thursday 11th December.
Debating with Tory PPC Kemi Adegoke and Lib Dem PPC Ajmal Masroor, Toby was able to outline Labour’s vision to return our country to a stable financial programme and some of the measures that have been taken to reduce the budget deficit.
Speaking after his stint on the show finished at 3:30am, Toby said: “I am grateful to Radio Five Live and Dotun for the opportunity to put across Labour’s vision for fairly returning our country’s finances to the stable financial growth that we have enjoyed over the first eleven years of a Labour Government.”
“I was glad to get the chance to debate with counterparts from the opposition parties though I am still no wiser as to how the Tories propose to find the £26 Billion pounds of cuts that they would need to take one year off the repayment schedule that Labour have proposed.
“Nor was the Liberal Democrat candidate able to explain how his party would cover the gaping six million pound black hole in their new tax threshold plans.”
“I must say that the problem lies not with the candidates that were left to explain their party’s policies but with the leadership of both parties that has irresponsibly refused to come clean on these issues.”
