Throughout 2010 there has been a relatively steady pattern of opinion polls showing a narrowing of the Conservative lead.
The latest poll by Ipsos Mori in the Daily Telegraph shows the lead down to just five points, and for the first time, under a uniform national swing, Labour would now be the largest party in a hung parliament.

Chesterfield Borough Council’s financial crisis took another disastrous turn after the plans to privatise the Corporate Services function were thrown into disarray on Thursday.
Two of the three companies who were involved in the tender process have now pulled out leaving the cash strapped Council in an extremely vulnerable position.

I was pleased to accept an invitation to address a Politics Access course group of students at Chesterfield College on the 8th February.
The purpose was to give the students an insight into modern campaigning methodologies. For me, it was a great opportunity to engage with young people on their response to the political literature and campaigning methodologies used by political parties.

Chesterfield MP Paul Holmes has been challenged to come clean over his expenses in a public debate after an extraordinary letter in which the MP made unsubstantiated claims that his family had been the target of a smear campaign.
Toby Perkins, Labour’s Parliamentary candidate for Chesterfield has written an open letter to Mr Holmes calling for answers to a series of questions that Mr Holmes has so far declined to answer.
