Local green heat producer leading climate fight from the front

Local green heat producer leading climate fight from the front

Chesterfield based business, NIBE, an industry leading manufacturer of commercial and residential boiler systems, has defied the recession, boasting record sales and a growing reputation. Labour Member of Parliament for Chesterfield, Toby Perkins, visited the Broom Business Park outfit to meet Managing Director Phil Hurley to see for himself the rapidly expanding office space and industry leading technology.

NIBE is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers in the domestic heating sector. The business supplies homes with heat pump products that provide domestic hot water through a network of builders and –plumbers merchants. Mr. Perkins was given a tour and was invited to view groundbreaking Exhaust Energy equipment, a new and more energy efficient form of household heating. The equipment, currently used in Scandinavia, is set to improve energy efficiency in households saving money and contributing to lower emissions across the UK.

After the visit Mr. Perkins said:-

“NIBE is not only a rapidly growing business but a developer of groundbreaking technology set to reduce energy inefficiencies in our homes. Homes contribute to a significant amount of overall carbon emissions so it is vital that companies such as NIBE continue to push the boundaries of energy efficient technologies. The future looks extremely bright for NIBE and I feel proud that a Chesterfield firm is at the frontier of energy saving technology, helping to contribute to the reduction in CO2 emissions which is vital”.

Phil commented:

‘’We are most grateful to Toby for taking the time to visit NIBE Energy Systems and for his ongoing role in supporting business in Chesterfield. As a low carbon business Government policy provides us with opportunity and a number of challenges as we seek to grow our workforce and to help homeowners to reduce their carbon footprint. The support and active engagement of local representatives on our behalf is therefore really appreciated. We look forward to working with Toby to generate further green jobs and investment in Chesterfield.’’
