Shadow Further Education & Skills Minister and Chesterfield MP Toby Perkins has paid tribute to staff across the sector in a visit to his local college ahead of ‘Love Our Colleges Week’.

On a recent visit to Chesterfield College in his constituency, Toby discussed the future of FE, T Levels, the adult education budget clawback and other issues affecting the college.

Toby stated: “I’m happy to support ‘Love Our College Week’ and celebrate the wonderful work which is being done in colleges across our country. It was great to visit Chesterfield College in my own area to take a tour of the new Digital Centre at the college and discuss how I can continue to support the college locally and in Parliament”.

The Association of Colleges ‘Love Our Colleges Week’ runs from 18th to 22nd October and provides the opportunity to celebrate and shout about how college build communities, boost businesses and support individuals.

Toby has also been highlighting the government’s plans to axe funding for the majority of BTEC courses and has given his backing to the #ProtectStudentChoice campaign which urges Ministers to rethink this decision.
