People across Chesterfield are being asked to display a ‘Chesterfield stands with Ukraine’ poster to show local solidarity with the people of the war-torn republic.

Volunteers from the Chesterfield Labour Party are delivering posters to around 42,000 local homes to allow local people to show their support for the people of Ukraine.

The posters, funded by local business, Weightron Bilanciai Ltd are comprised of the Ukrainian flag with ‘Chesterfield Stands with Ukraine’ written on it.

Toby Perkins, MP for Chesterfield, said “People in Chesterfield have been shocked and appalled by the Russian invasion of Ukraine and I have been inundated by constituents raising their concerns for the people caught up in the violence.

I have already heard from more than a dozen local people who wish to offer accommodation to Ukrainian refugees but it is also important to show that this is an issue that really matters to people across our country and so I hope that when they receive these posters, people will display these posters in their windows to make a visible show of local support.

The posters are being delivered by an army of Labour Party volunteers in Chesterfield along with a  local newspaper discussing other local issues. People can also find out more information on how they can support Ukrainian refugees at Toby Perkins’ website – www.tobyperkins.org.uk
