The arrangements for Ukrainian families fleeing the war in Ukraine are coming to an end and there is a real danger that we could see Ukrainian families on the streets this Christmas.
The Minister’s response didn’t reassure me that the Government are doing everything they can to prevent this. He was more interested in paying tribute to his predecessor.

Toby Perkins: Thank you Mr Speaker. There are many families who hosted a Ukrainian family nearly 6 months ago. Those arrangements are coming to an end and there is a real danger that we are going to, this winter, see a large number of Ukrainian families homeless. The Government need to do far more than the Hon. Member from Pendle responded in that previous question. Can they tell us what their strategic approach is to prevent us having Ukrainian families on our streets this Christmas?

Minister: Well, the Hon. gentleman makes a powerful point. We are working cross government to ensure that we have a sustainable process with this going forward. It was remiss of me, in my answer to one of his colleagues before, not to pay tribute to my predecessor, Lord Harrington, who is in the gallery today. I think we should all owe a debt of gratitude across this House for the incredible work he did to support Ukrainian families.
