So, this Saturday is Small Business Saturday, Saturday 3rd December. It’s a day to celebrate small businesses. I’m here, right across Chesterfield, trying to promote small businesses, as a great place for people to do their Christmas shopping.

I have been inviting people across Chesterfield to nominate their favourite small businesses and we’ve had a number of different businesses nominated. I’m going to be going out on Small Business Saturday to highlight all of those great places to do your Christmas shopping. We don’t need everyone on the internet buying from the massive companies when we have got so many great retailers around Chesterfield.

I am here today, on Sheffield Road, the first of those, RD Models. As you can see, they have an array of different model race cars and it’s a really superb place to come and visit.

So I am here with Gemma, one of the co-owners of the shop. Gemma, I am absolutely blown away by the number of different products you have here. What actually is it that you sell?

Gemma: So, we’ve got a vast amount of RC cars. It’s electric and nitro. Everything from £60/£70 cars, suitable for children right up to well over £1000 competition cars.

Toby: Right, brilliant, and then once people have bought them where can they actually get them going?

Gemma: Well, it could be your local park, in your garden, for crawler cars, in your front room but we are actually the best place, I think, in Europe for clubs, for competition, for racetracks. It’s a fantastic part of North Derbyshire or South Yorkshire for anybody who wants to get out and join a club.

Toby: Yeah, so basically, they come along, if they want to just have a go in a park they can, if they want to take it more seriously than they can do that too.

Gemma: There’s plenty on offer, yeah.
