Chesterfield MP Toby, who serves as Shadow Skills Minister, has paid tribute to the work of careers professionals and the huge difference they make to the lives of children, young people and adults.

National Careers Week, which runs from 6th to 11th March, highlights the importance of careers guidance and advice.

It is being supported by a number of employers, charities and organisations across the skills sector.

Labour have announced that they will introduce face-to-face careers guidance for all secondary school pupils and ensure all pupils complete two weeks worth work experience.

Toby stated “I’m pleased to give my backing to National Careers Week and to highlight the huge difference that careers professionals make in transforming lives. It is encouraging that so many organisations have got on board to celebrate National Careers Week, from employers to charities and stakeholders across the sector”.

He added “The best part of my job, as Shadow Skills Minister, is talking to apprentices and employees. I’m struck by how many people weren’t fully aware of the training and jobs around them and it’s something I want to change.

I’ve witnessed excellent examples of careers provision across the country first-hand and I want to make sure that this is standard, no matter where people live”.
