Children from Abercrombie Primary School in Chesterfield have been showing their artistic skills – and festive spirit – following a challenge set by Chesterfield MP Toby Perkins to design his Christmas Card.

Toby held a presentation evening held at the Casa Hotel, where he revealed the winning design and announced the runners-up.

Toby Perkins said, “All of the designs this year were amazing and it was very difficult to choose a winner. I picked the card by Gerard from Year 3 as it was colourful, bright and ca encapsulates both Chesterfield and Christmas perfectly.”

Toby was joined by joined by students, parents, school staff, Cllr Kate Sarvent and the local businesses who sponsored this year’s card. Over 3,000 cards have now been sent out to Chesterfield residents, businesses, organisations, MPs and dignitaries such as the King and Prime Minister.

Toby added, “I want to say a big thank you to the children at Abercrombie Primary School for putting so much effort into their designs and creating such a wonderful card.  I would also like to thank the sponsors, Weightron Bilanciai, Vehicle Weighing Solutions, CASA Hotel and the Construction & Skills People. And a big thank you to Casa Hotel for hosting the event. No taxpayers’ funds are used for the cards and they wouldn’t be possible without the generous sponsorship of these brilliant local businesses.”
