Toby Perkins MP Standing up for Chesterfield and Staveley
I’m aware that there is a lot of concern locally due to the ongoing heavy rain and rising river levels. There is flooding at Hornsbridge Roundabout. Please be careful on the roads.
My office has been in touch with the Environment Agency earlier today and were assured that they were actively monitoring river levels and would be responding as needed and promised that they “are well prepared for any eventuality”.
I have now contacted them again to request an urgent update on the flood risk and for details of any actions that are being taken to reduce the chances of flooding. I will keep people updated.
If flood defences are breached, or there is any intelligence you want me to pass on to the Environment Agency about the situation on the ground, then please email me at toby.perkins.mp@parliament.uk
