So, I am just here at the formal opening of the Construction Skills Hub at Mastin Moor up at Staveley. This is a project that’s been funded by Chesterfield Borough Council and is working in conjunction with Chesterfield College, Derby University and the Devonshire Group, whose site it is here.

We’ve got a lot of people who are getting an entry into the construction industry. Predominantly young people starting out on their career, and it is a matter of national importance that we encourage as many people as possible to actually take up these construction careers.

Without building we don’t get any of the growth that we need. Whether that be the new hospitals and schools that we were talking about in the budget yesterday, or the 150,000 new houses that we need in the East Midlands every single year. So, really great to see a lot of people embarking on their careers at the official opening of this really important site. All part of the investment of the local council and the Government.
