Toby Perkins MP Standing up for Chesterfield and Staveley
It has been a busy week in Parliament and here in Chesterfield. Here’s my new quick video review of my week. Let me know your thoughts.

So, I’m back down to London for another week but I’ve introduced this new review of my week. I’d be really interested in your feedback, but this is a summary of some of the things we got up to last week.
In Parliament I raised the importance of Britain showing global leadership on climate change at COP 29. On Tuesday I met our Mayor, Clare Ward, to talk about securing the money for the vital Staveley Bypass. I chaired the Environmental Audit Committee and spoke with media about the work and priorities of the Committee. Chesterfield College is such a valuable institution. I met with their Principal and Governors to discuss their challenges this week. I raised Chesterfield flood defences in Parliament and secured a meeting with our Water Minister in Chesterfield. I visited local business, Northern Tea Merchants, to talk about the importing barriers they’re facing, and I also spoke to Calendar about the disastrous OFSTED review into Derbyshire SEND services. I saw the fabulous contribution Art Smart has made on art teaching at Speedwell Infant School and over 80 local business owners and farmers attended a meeting to discuss their challenges and I spoke with the BBC ahead of that meeting.
So, that’s my summary of the week in 60 seconds. I hope you found it useful. Please let us know your thoughts and look out for the same next week.
