Toby Perkins MP Standing up for Chesterfield and Staveley
Christmas cheer and artistic flair was on display in the Mayor’s Parlour at the town hall, as Toby Perkins announced the winning design for this year’s Christmas Card.
Children from Hasland Junior School had taken up the challenge to design Toby’s Christmas card this year, with the winner and runners-up announced at a presentation event hosted by Chesterfield Mayor, Cllr Jenny Flood.
Toby Perkins said, “As always, it was an incredibly tough decision picking this year’s winning design, and I was amazed by the artistic talents and creativity of all the entrants. It was very close but I felt that Jacob Wilson from Year 3’s design was simple, but also very colourful and very cleverly turned our famous Crooked Spire into a snowman’s hat!.”
The Mayor was on hand to present the prizes to the winner and runner ups of this year’s competition and was joined by students, parents, school staff and the local businesses who sponsored this year’s card. Over 3,000 cards have now been sent out to Chesterfield residents, businesses, organisations, MPs and dignitaries such as the King and Prime Minister.
Toby added, “My thanks to the Mayor for hosting this event and making it a special day for the children. I would also like to thank the sponsors – Weightron Bilanciai, Construction & Skills People, United Rental Group, Vehicle Weighing Solutions and the GMB. No taxpayers funds are used for the cards and they wouldn’t be possible without this generous sponsorship.”
