I’m down at River View, in Birdholme. Once again, the flood levels have been high after the recent snow fall and rain, the melting of the snow. I’m told we’ve had the worst we are going to get, and it appears that on this occasion no one in the immediate area has been flooded by the river.

The Rother, as you can see behind me, is moving very fast, it’s high but it is receding but once again adds to the urgency to make sure we try and get further flood alleviation works on the River Rother and on the River Hipper, which is a key priority.

So, the latest update is the river appears to have flooded onto the fields but not into the houses and we’ll be keeping a very close eye on it, but the current predictions are that the peak has passed.
