Children from Dunston Primary School have been getting creative, and festive, after taking up the challenge of designing the Chesterfield MP, Toby Perkins Christmas Card for this year.
The winning design was unveiled at a special presentation event at the school, where pupils had the chance to see the artwork of the winner and runners-up.
Toby Perkins MP said, “It was once again an incredibly difficult task choosing a winner, as the standard of entries was extremely high. I was really impressed by the creativity, effort and imagination shown by all the pupils who took part. The winning design by Joshua in Year 4 really stood out thanks to its bold use of colour and strong festive theme, making it perfect for my Christmas card this year.”
Prizes were presented to the winner and runners-up, with pupils, parents, school staff and supporters coming together to celebrate the students’ achievements. The final design will feature on 2,500 Christmas cards sent to Chesterfield residents, local businesses, community organisations, MPs and dignitaries – including the Mayor, Prime Minister, Duke of Devonshire and even, His Majesty, The King Charles.
Toby added, “My thanks go to Dunston Primary School for taking part in this year’s competition and for the enthusiasm shown by both staff and pupils. I am always proud to showcase the talent of young people in our community. I would also like to thank the local businesses who continue to support this competition. No taxpayers’ funds are used for the cards, and they would not be possible without the generous backing of local sponsors. This year’s sponsors are Weightron Bilanciai, United Rental Group, Construction Skills People and the GMB union.”
